Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Dewsbury Central Station Hotel

I believe this building is on CAMRA's National Inventory of historic interiors. Situated near the town's Central station and alongside the railway line and a market, the exterior and interior are now in an extremely dilapidated state with broken windows and a downtrodden air.

Locals were congregated in the front bar. We didn't dare venture any further. Drinks choice was extremely limited. Carlsberg was the only beer on pump. The only soft drinks available were orange squash and blackcurrant squash. Cans of some supermarket brand of cheap cider were also available. In fact, most of the clientele were drinking cans of some description.

Everything stopped when I walked through the door and asked if my son was ok to come in. With the pool table dominating the centre of the bar, one guy instructed everybody to calm their language before my son entered!

There were certainly some interesting characters present, along with a very curious smell. When one did start to swear, he came over and apologised by handing £2 over to my son. Not wishing to drink Carlsberg and having chosen the blackcurrant squash (!) for £1, we ended up leaving as a family £1 in credit!

There are certainly some interesting old features to admire in the bar area, which mean the place is still worthy of a visit if you're in town. But don't expect much.
