Steve C left this review about The New Moon

The New Moon is a large L-shaped pub that had a birthday party in progress when I visited on a Friday evening last year. There were twenty or so people in the party and no other customers, so the pub felt quiet. I counted four pool tables, two dartboards and a billiard table, which were all unused. The televisions throughout were showing BT/Sky Sports, but these were muted in favour of musical classics from the likes of Kylie Minogue.
The bar supports a standard and premium keg range. One of the three hand pumps was unused which left Fullers London Pride and Sharps Doom Bar as the cask ale options. I went for a pint of lager which was ok, but the Nobby’s Nuts were well out of date, to the point where they were stale enough for me to check the date. I didn’t rate this pub and do not plan to return.

Roger Button left this review about The Half Moon

The Half Moon is more of a Sports Bar than a pub and being just a few hundred yards from the currently high flying Crawley Town FC, it clearly knows where its customer base lies.

The interior is one long knocked through main bar with a smaller rear section off to the right. The dcor is plain but bright and brash but people don’t seem to come here for intimacy or aesthetics. 4 pool tables dominate one end of the main bar around which you will also find a pinball machine, dart board, boxing machine and at least 9 TVs + 2 big screens. 2 tables even have their own personlised TVs if you can’t manage to catch any of the other screens. Karaoke is advertised for every alternate Saturday which I hardly find an enticing proposition.

The drink selection is is pretty basic with just the 1 ale (Spitfire) that just happened to run out as I called on a Saturday lunctime when the place was hardly bursting at the seams with pre-match crowds. Actually, most people in theer were away fans although on the plus side there was no hint of any trouble and the staff were particularly welcoming. Prices according to the price list ranged from £3.05 for Carlsberg to £3.75 for Stella which made the lack of Spitfire on offer at £2.50 a bit galling.

There isn’t really a lot of options around the football ground so the pub will at least cater for your needs if that is your reason for visiting but it certainly isn’t worth the lengthy walk from town to check the place out.
