This is a local community pub owned by Punch Taverns but its currently for sale. The interior has two rooms, a front public bar and a sports room at the back which is accessed by a corridor down the right hand side of the building. the public bar has a small dark wood counter along the left wall towards the back of the room, there are two nice cast iron fire places in the right wall, the fire place towards the front of the room has a large flat screen TV above and the fire place towards the back of the room and opposite the bar counter has a large mirror above. There is a raised area in the front left corner which I believe is regularly used as a stage for karaoke nights and there are brown patterned fabric bench seats and a patterned carpet, on the back wall is a second smaller flat screen TV and there were a couple of old black and white photos on the walls. In the middle of the right hand wall between the two fire places is a door that leads to the corridor, at the end of the which is the sports room that has quite a traditional feel, this has a small bar counter in the front left corner, a large cast range stove in the middle of the back wall, a dart board in the back right corner and a pool table in the middle of the room. The floor is bare boards and there are green leather bench seats. The corridor also gives access to a large beer garden at the back of the building but this had been neglected and was very over grown.

No real ales but keg Banks's Mild and Boddingtons Bitter were on the bar. I had a Banks's which was ok for keg. As my user name suggests, this isn't my kind of thing but I'm not militant about it.

A decent community pub which is popular with the locals, it could do with a bit of a spruce up and a real ale or two in my opinion, the beer garden definitely needs some attention. I visited this place as I had read in a local news paper that although the pub was still open and doing relatively well, Punch had tried to sell the building to a property developer who wanted to convert it into a veterinary surgery! The understandably disgruntled landlord told me that the planning proposal had since been withdrawn but Punch still wanted to sell the place. Admittedly its not a pub that I would rush back to, but as long as its still a pub then there is always a chance that it could sell real ale in the future which would be enough to attract me back.
