Former country club converted to a pub / restaurant in 1977. Now a Marston's house, it features a range of seating / dining areas in an overall 'L' shape (with counters on two sides of the central servery to match). Usual semi-traditional pubco furniture and decor, but there is a reasonable beer garden for the better weather. With two banks of four handpumps, I found Amber, Mild and Sunbeam (£2.75) from Banks's plus Brakspear Oxford Gold, Ringwood Old Thumper and Bombardier being served.

A lot of work is being done in front of the pub but it does still appear open

A detached white rendered, almost Georian looking Marston's pub and eatery, with patio area and kids' play area

A great review, as ever, from the Monster. The interior has two rooms. The lounge, where they serve their food (i didn't eat, so can't comment on that) is an L-shaped room in coffee and grey, with a nice white moulded ceiling. There are lots of Victorian prints on the walls, cheifly plants, animals and punch style cartoons. The service here was fine and the clientele mixed. The music was general and a decent level. I then wandered into the bar room, which was filled with locals playing a domino match. This room was in cream and wood panel with white ceiling. There was a TV with the footy on and the music was the same. Wolves memorabilia featured heavily, along with various trophies and there was a dart board. The service was fine here as well.

Beer; tap stuff, with Banks's Bitter, MILD and Jennings Soggy Bottom on handpull, the MILD and Soggy were fine.

It has been several years since my last visit and it felt like a pub still... so often food takes over, but not here. The best pub around this area and worthy of a visit, even a short walk for the Premier Inn!
