Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Old Crown
Having just the letters left left on the exterior signage tells you all you need to know about this place, and I wouldn't normally leave a review where I didn't have some kind of drink, but at least I tried here... The bar and side room (with a disused pool table at the back) have very little furniture and no discernible decor but an all-pervading sense of neglect verging on abandonment. Worse still, none of the limited number of keg taps were working (with some story about a broken chiller), leaving just a few dull cans in a fridge. I declined, which the guy behind the counter didn't take badly, so I wrote this one off to experience.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Old Crown
This is a detached mid 20th century looking plain brick pub, a little adrift since the ring-road smashed through the area. It used to be next to a bowling green and the Labour Club (former Springfield House) now it looks a tad neglected, with a broken window. The interior retains and open plan version of its earlier rooms and is in cream and white. There is a pool table at the back and the main bar area has a TV (general programmes - silent) and there was reggae music on the jukebox. The service was fine and the clientele mixed and I had a great chat to one regular. There isn't much in the way of pictures. Beer; no real ale and not much in the way of keg drinks was on either - just lager - i had a coke. Nothing for the real ale fan, but the chat was worth popping in for.
