Looks like an estate-type pub, although it is located on a busy through road, and the external signage places unexpected emphasis on food. It looks like the original building has been extended (perhaps twice?) at the front at some point, with most of the additional seating / dining areas here to be found down a short flight of steps. Tidy furniture and decor throughout, and there are also a couple of small beer gardens at the front and a patio / smoking area at the back. The main bar itself is located further back, with a carvery area in between. This offers non-chain food at remarkable prices (e.g. a standard meal with a choice of three freshly-carved meats at £4.69). The Hobson's Champion Mild available from one of the pair of handpumps was also just £2.40.

Well described below - the carvery was in full swing when I visited and looked decent. They still do a couple of real ales and that was fine too. I'd call in again.

A detached modern estate pub and eatery - well, a carvery, which has a beer garden and an interesting dovecote in the garden that does attract birds. It is a 60s style house, in brick, with sprawling low-level extensions, also in brick - slightly more aesthetic than most of its time. The interior has an open plan area, which is part partitioned, as well a large dining area, down a few steps, that was deserted and closed off. The main area is a bar, lounge and carvery serving area - i didn't eat so can't comment on that. It is in white and blue patterned wallpaper, with white ceiling, red patterned carpet and had blue seating. It looks tidy, and traditional enough with the prints on the walls. There is a dart board, although people sit underneath it (if brave enough) and a TV, which was showing the women's footy. The service was fine and there were a few people in - mainly just drinking. Beer; usual tap stuff with Banks's MILD and Stonehouse Station Bitter on handpull - which was just a tad warm. While it is a generally dull building, it is tidy inside and does real ale - i would pop in again, if just for the one.
