Locals pub with nothing on the beer front. Very busy and obviously well used. Friendly service - Happy to pop in for 1.

A white rendered terraced Victorian pub, with red paintwork. There are two bay windows, one either side of the central entrance and fantastic etched windows of 'Robert's Brewery'. There are new signs since the photo was taken.

The interior is an open-plan L-shaped room around the serving bar that faces you on entry. The decor seemed to be a milk chocolate and cream with a white ceiling and a brown carpet in the lounge bit (to the right on entry) and a red lino floor in the bar bit. There are brown perimenter seats, stools and tables in the lounge bit - the tables look a little tired now and a collection of various prints and photos on the walls, along with a signed England shirt. There is also an exposed brick chimney breast feature here. There is a TV in the bar bit, which was showing the footy and a dart board. The service was friendly and the clientele consisted of a few locals in the bar bit. The music was general and quite quiet really.

Beer; well all keg stuff, with no real ale (a Theakston handpull was turned round) and no MILD. I had a bottle of Newcastle Brown.

I quite like the pub. I have been a couple of times now. Sadly, even after a couple of years since the last visit the problem for me is as it was last time, in that there is not enough beer choice, even in the bottles.

Nice acid-etched windows from when it was a Robert's Brewery house.
