A detached, small, Marston's pub that has recently been refurbished after a period of closure so under new management. It is a white rendered cottage-style house, with a low level annex. There is a patio area and covered smoking area at the rear.

The interior is an open-plan sort of zig-zag shape. If you enter from the car park you come into a straight room, wich is laid out for dining. I didn't eat here but it is a standard enough Marston's menu. Turn to the left, up a step, past the fireplace with a nice fire, the serving bar is found to the right. The room then curves around the bar to finish with a blocked fireplace and a dart board. The decor is cream and grey walls, with white ceiling and a patterned carpet, although there are a couple of red walls as contrast. There were a couple of TVs, only one on with some general stuff and there was no music. There are a few landscape pictures and old photos on the walls and some books in a bookcase. The top area has some general tables, stools and perimeter seating. It looks less bland than it used to. The service was very friendly, both the owners taking time to simply say hello to what appeared to be a miserable bloke in the corner. The clientele consisted of a few, equally friendly locals.

Beer; usual tap stuff On handpull there are Banks's Bitter, Pedigree and Wychwood Hobgoblin. The 'Goblin was fine. The choice of real ale has inproved under the new management. Only criticism was that i didn't see a Banks's MILD, even on keg.

My previous visit was over 2 years back; "The exterior promises much that the interior and beer failed to deliver. Just wouldnt bother again to be honest". I have returned and was pleased that i did so. I spent a friendly half-hour with a decent enough pint.
