Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crown

Coincidentally part of the Crown Carveries chain, this is a substantial polygonal pub / restaurant with several large seating / dining areas around the central servery. Furniture and decor might have been semi-modern once, but it all looks rather dated now. Adnams Ghost Ship appeared to be on one of the three handpumps, but unfortunately this expired during the pour and was substituted with John Smiths as there were no other real ales in the cellar!

Gill Smith left this review about The Crown

Called into this Cask Marque Crown Carvery pub yesterday but there was a note on the door to say no beer available at the moment. There was a Doom Bar pump clip on one of the handpulls, but the barman said sorry no beer on today, so we left. think it may have just been a temporary thing but didn't fancy a bottle of lager.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Elms

A massive detached corner pub, with dormer windows, rendered with a beer patio.

The interior is one large open plan room, it seemed, around a central bar, with a family area, pool area and SKY TV to 'come and watch X-Factor with them', so they advertise outside. It is mainly set out for food, with a budget menu. The decor is a collection of plain, but different coloured walls; white, salmon, mustard and so on, which do have a few old photos of Aldrige on amongst other things. The service was functional, the clientele mixed and it was busy.

Beer; tap stuff with a decent M&B MILD. There was Timothy Taylor Landlord on handpull, with the other two pumps not being used.

It was a decent M&B, but it is too big and soulless for me to return to.
