Old-fashioned corner local with three rooms in an overall 'L'-shape. The entrance leads directly to the bar, with the lounge to one side having a bit of an aviary (complete with bird squawking at regular intervals) and another room in semi-darkness on the other. No real ale, but at least there was M&B Mild (£2.40, and served in a now rare oversized lined glass) as an alternative to the Worthington's, etc.

This is a fantastic looking detached corner pub, with patio area. It is certainly Victorian, but its prime location may suggest an earlier pub. It is an extended cottage-types, in white render, with black paintwork, with two entrances between three bay windows. Whilst the interior is actually open plan (the doors being removed), three rooms are quite clear. They are in cream and wood and run in an L-shape. There is electic stuff all over the place, from a live bird in a massive cage to stuffed fish, spiders and mounted butterflies, as well as newspaper clippings and general prints. The TV wasn't on and the music was general and at a decent level. The service was fine and the clientele consisted of a mixed group of friendly locals. Beer; no real ale, just the usual tap stuff with M&B MILD. I had a shandy. a fun place to visit for a swifty, although there is nothing for the real ale fan.
