A half million pound refurbishment will see a popular Sutton Coldfield pub reopen as a Mediterranean restaurant today.
The Reddicap Tavern in Hollyfield Road is to open as the region’s first Pesto Italian bar and restaurant.

Soup Dragon left this review about Reddicap Tavern

A detached 1930s style undressed brick pub, with dormer windows and a patio area.

The interior is technically open plan, but has three areas forming a U-shape around the bar that faces you on entry. The area to the right has a pool table and some sofas and comfy chairs. The area to the left is like a lounge, with a dart board. The central bar area has a dj booth area and TVs with the sport on. The decor throughout is red and cream, with a wood floor. There is a mix of old photos and arty pictures on the walls. The service was good, the clientele a mix of locals and the music, supplied by a DJ was 80s, but loud.

Beer; tap stuff, no real ale - with Theakston's MILD and Bitter, with Dark Smooth. The MILD was fine.

A proper pub, rather than the food factories you mainly see around Sutton. Happy to have stopped off and would go in again.

General Staal left this review about Reddicap Tavern

This looks like a large 'modern' pub - by that I would say it dates to somewhere between the 30s and the 50s. Inside, it is much smaller than it appears to be from the outside.

The interior is like a stretched out 'L' shape with long bar.

The decor looked a little tired. The clientele seemed mixed and I got the impression that on occasion it could get a little 'tasty' in here. However, on my visit, I felt comfortable and relaxed. In fact, the punters and barman were quite friendly.

There is the usual stuff with no real ale. However, there were three beers on which I could happily drink - Theakstons Mild, Theakstons Bitter and Theakstons Dark Smooth. I had the Mild on my visit and it was really nice.

I would happily come back here for a drink, but I would probably not come on a Friday or Saturday night!
