This is a detached pub with a beer garden. It is a 1950's estate pub, serving an estate built on former mining land. The pub has a touch of the mock-Tudors about it, with the stonework around the windows - the rest being in cream render. It has a steep pitched roof and the old outdoor 'shop' is still there. The interior has an irregular shaped main room (the old rooms having gone) and a large function room called 'Chamberlains', where they have discos etc. Wayne Tulsa seems to appear at another local pub now on a Thursday, but I have seen him (and the band) a few times up by where I live - a good night! Anyhow, the main room is in modern décor, despite the back part of the room having a pool table and a couple of dart boards. It is in white and various brown patterned wallpapers. There is also a slightly raised area. There is a brick fireplace. The seating is a mix of comfy chairs and pouffes, which seem a little out of place, along with the flowery arty art on the walls. There are a few TVs about, only one being on, which was showing daytime programmes. There was no music. The service was friendly and it appeared to be a pleasant locals pub. Beer; no real ale, just the usual keg drinks with Banks's MILD and a rather too cold M&B MILD. A nice locals pub, just sadly, nothing for the real ale fan.
