Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Malt Shovel
Modernised alehouse-style pub with an opened-out, L-shaped interior and lighter inside than one might expect. With all five handpumps in use, I found Holden's Golden Glow (£3.20) and other local beers from Fownes and Fixed Wheel plus ones from Titanic and Neepsend coming from further afield. Overall, rather better than expected.

UPDATE: still quite similar as an interior, although freshened-up, it now has 5 real ales and is a free house. A couple of Oakham's were on, as well as Holden's Golden Glow and a more than decent WV Butty Bach. Much better, just gets a little noisy for a misery like me.

MAY 2010: A detached Banks's pub, in plain brick with white paintwork and a rear beer garden
The interior is an open plan room around the wood bar, in white and wood panel decorated with a few sporting pictures and prints - horse racing featuring a lot here. There was Sky TV and pop based background music at a decent level. The service was functional and the clientele more younger based at our visit.
Beer; tap stuff, with Banks's bitter and a good MILD on handpull.
Not visited for a couple of years, but on my latest visit I felt a little old! The beer was fine though.
