Three-bar pub near the top of the hill leading to the Wren's Nest nature reserve. Both front rooms have plain furniture and little decoration, with the main bar housing a pool table and the smaller side one having a well-used dartboard and a few tables for those eating from the Asian menu. Also has a separate bar at the back (not in use when I visited) and a narrow patio terrace along the frontage. With several disused handpumps and a limited keg choice, I settled for a Worthington's before resuming my walk.

This is a 1960s pub on the edge of the Wren's Nest Nature Reserve. Built as a part of the housing expansions, there was once a miniture rifle range and an old limestone pit opposite, before the pub was constructed. It is a typical pub of the period, which means it is devoid of much character - a large central building, with low-level extension, all in brick and white board. There is a front patio area. The interior has a couple of areas set in an L-shape, although now knocked through. The decor is cream and red, with a white ceiling. One end has a pool table and a couple of dart boards (though you have to guess where to chuck from) and there is a dart board at the other end. The TV was set to a music channel, which was fine, but then the volume was cranked-up to a loud level. The service was fine and a mixed, local crowd was in. The seats were bench ones, of mixed colour and a few pictures were on the walls. Beer; no real ale, just the usual kegs, with a decent enough Banks's MILD. Very much a locals pub, but nothing for the real ale fan.
