I used to use this pub many years ago as The Jolly Collier and The Colliers. Called in a few times as the Wizard And Glass. I drove past last week and there is a lot of building work going on. As far as I know it is being converted into a Chinese takeaway and flats.

Soup Dragon left this review about Wizard and Glass

A detached pub with patio area formerly called the Jolly Collier. It looks late Victorian/Edwardian at heart and is deceptively big, with a cottage style building with back and side extensions. It is predominantly in white render, with some blue paintwork.

The interior has a couple of rooms. The backroom, which i didn't see as it was closed, is open at weekends and open until 2am. The main bar room has a U-shaped room around the wood panelled serving bar. The decor is purple and white walls, white ceiling and wood floor, with sofas and comfy seats. There is little in the way of pictures on the walls, but there is a nice fireplace (with fire going) to give some feel of heritage in a pub that has been modernised. There was a large TV with the footy on and there was no background music. The service was fine and the clientele mixed, including dogs.

Beer; no real ale, all keg. The Bass MILD wasn't on and so i had an OK Guinness.

Not really my kind of place - despite being a tidy modernisation. Great if you like the comfy seat bar look and general keg drinks and a good contrast to the other immediate local pubs.
