Now back open and called The Reindeer.
It is an Indian Bar & Grill. Surprised to see 4 ales on the go. Salopian Lemon Dream & Shropshire Gold, HPA and Bishops Farewell.

Old Peculiar left this review about The Laurel

Recently reopened and renamed The Blackcountryman, the pub was very much work in progress during a recent visit. The new manageress said they intend to have 8 real ales when all the lines are in, only 4 were working at the time plus Banks's original and oyster stout, Thatchers gold cider and 2 lagers. The prices were very reasonable, £2.50 before 7pm and £2.80 after and the pint of Bumblehole I had was excellent. Other ales advertised include Enville ale and ginger, Sunbeam and Cumberland.
Sadly, the lack of a car park hampers a casual visit, but otherwise it's worth popping in.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Laurel

This is a detached Banks's pub. It is a rebuild of a Victorian pub called the Reindeer, which stood on the same site, which was then next to Woodside Colliery. The pub is in a mock-Tudor style, being in brick, with stone around the windows and doors (the one now blocked). It has a front facing gable and central bay window. The interior has a couple of rooms. The front room is the bar and is in cream. It has a dart board and a TV. The back room is the eating area, although it has a pool table too and a TV with the footy scores on. It is in cream and patterned wallpaper. Both rooms have Laurel & Hardy pictures on the walls. The service was OK and the places was busy with locals - they were all in the front room. I didn't eat, so I can't comment on that, but the prices looked reasonable. Beer; no real ale, just the usual tap stuff, with a decent enough Banks's MILD. A solid enough locals pub, nothing for the real ale fan.
