Originally a terraced Victorian pub, this place is now a detached one, with a park one side and newer housing to the other. It has returned to its original name, having become O'Grady's Irish pub for a while. Typically Victorian, the upper storey is in brick, with moulded cornice and Gothic arched windows, whereas the lower is in the pilaster look. The pub looks as if it has just been refurbished. It has one main room (now the old ones have been ripped out) which forms a U-shape around the serving bar. It is in yellow ceiling and upper walls (broken by a peach colour cornice), with red wood panel lower wall and a mainly wood floor. The tables/chairs and perimter seating are new, or re-covered. There is a tiled fireplace too. The TV had a soap on, silently and the music was mixed and a decent level. The service was friendly enough and the place populated by more mature locals, with a nice atmosphere. The walls had collages of photos of pub locals, as well as one Irish mirror. There was no real ale and no MILD, so i had a shandy. A tidy and friendly local pub, which sadly lacks and drinks to my taste.
