This is an attractive pub on the main road through the village. It makes the most of it's prominent roadside position with rope lights dotted all around the roof line so that you can't fail to notice it. There's a small courtyard garden although it's quite shaded unfortunately.

There's only really one L-shaped bar, plus a restaurant area. There is a very small rear bar, not much more than a corridor really, but this was closed off. There was a plasma in the corner of the bar showing the rugby on a recent visit. Several guys were lounging around the place watching it, and I literally had to step over their legs to get to the bar. Not very welcoming. Having got a pint, there was then nowhere to sit. Any of the tables in the bar you'd have felt like you were in the way of the people watching the rugby, they'd have been staring straight over your head. We ended up in the restaurant area which was completely empty, so not much in the way of atmosphere.

From what we saw of the food menus, most of it seems to centre around roasts on a Sunday. I'm not sure if they do food at other times. Sadly there were no real ales on. There was a pump on the bar, but it was not in use. The only thing even vaguely resembling a beer was John Smith's Extra Smooth. This is very unusual for a pub these days. Ciders were Thatcher's Gold and Ashton Press.

This is a pub that has got great potential, but to my mind at least, doesn't seem to be living up to it at present.
