Having visited Shustoke's other pub (the Griffin Inn) many years back, I returned to the village to try the Plough this time around.

This is a popular pub, with nearly all tables taken inside by people having lunch. Those that weren't occupied had the dreaded reserved signs on with no indication of when they were reserved from. Instead, we sat on the cold front patio where there are some impressive pods for indoor drinking and dining. I suspect they are Covid relics that proved to be quite popular.

Inside, there are 4 rooms. At the front, there are 3 rooms, a games room, a small dining area and the bar itself, from left to right as you face the pub. There is a more formal dining room to the rear. All rooms apart from the games room seemed to be more popular with diners than drinkers on our visit.

To the rear of the building is a car park and a small aviary containing a multitude of birds.

Draught Bass is the regular beer. Guests were Greene King IPA, Backyard The Hoard & Grasshopper Knee High. The Knee High was in a good condition.

Not in the same league as the Griffin, but still a decent village local.

This is very nice and remains as described by Soup below, complete with fish tanks and aviary. An irritation is tables reserved in the front bar area when there's a perfectly pleasant restaurant area for those who want to enjoy the pub grub menu. But thankfully there are no high tables.

Beerwise, they major on Bass, which is a bit of a thing in this neck of the woods. There are other Marstons related beers but we tried Backyard's Hoard bitter which was a nice drink.

The locals are lucky to have this pub: I hope they cherish it.

A detached pub, with patio and beer garden areas, along with an aviary. The pub looks like an old Georgain farm building, but was certainly a pub in the Victorian period. It has a nice cottage frontage, with a projecting porch area. It is in white painted brick. The interior is traditional, with a modern twist - with the old rooms (doors removed) having fish tanks and there is a conservatory dining area at the back. The decor is of white and wood panel, with settles, prints and brasses dotted about. There are several areas - two dining at the front, two more bar like behind; then there is the conservatory are and a separate games room with pool and darts. Several fireplaces are dotted about. It is dog friendly. We didn't eat, but as Danny says, the menu has a few interesting things on. The service was very friendly and the clientele, mature mainly, and friendly too - with a good mix of diners and drinkers. Beer; usual tap stuff with M&B MILD. On handpull there were Thwaite's Wainwright, Director's Bitter, Sheppy Neame Whitstable Bay and a really good Bass. A delight to visit and a place i will return to - and to try the food. I could stay here for a good few hours.
