Well described below by Soupy, The Bell has a locals feel to it. Friendly service with Greene King IPA the only ale on.

This is a detached pub, with patio and beer garden areas. It is at least Georgian, at heart, but looking at the OS Maps, it appears to have been remodelled around the 1950s. The pub is in a now slightly tired cream render, and has, what looks like two former cottages joined together - one having dog-tooth eaves, the other an interesting stepped gable. The interior is all open plan, with a dining area and a bar area. They do food, but we didn't eat. The decor has flowery wallpaper and coffee, some red tile flooring around the nice fireplace. There is a mix of tables and chairs with sofas and high stools. The walls have a few mirrors and arty photos on them, juxtaposed with a trophy cabinet. The TVs had silent sport and a music channel on, which was at a decent level. The service was fine and a few mature locals were in. Beer; no real ale (a Doombar clip was turned around) just the usual keg drinks without a MILD. I had half of Guinness. Sadly, not the place i remember from the 80s - it felt a little soulless and lacked beer of my personal taste - it should be fine for those that are happy with the general keg drinks.

After reading a few reviews of this place I was expecting a bit of a formula younsters place. Its far from it and I was pleasently surprised.

Its a large pub and bar, comfortable and nice features such as the large fire place. Separated areas, it has a fine feel about it, lots of wood panalling. There are modern features, a number of big screen tvs for sport and I did visit at a Saturday lunchtime & can imagine it does get busy with a young crowd in the evenings, butI think its a fine contrast with the nearby Green Man and I would definately try it if I fancied a livelier evening. As it was, on Saturday lunchtime, I was one of the young people in here at 42, with a number of people enjoying the fine food.

A couple of staple real ales, including Bombadier. Very nice pub.
