Remains perfect. Spot on house beer from the Old Pie Factory in Warwick plus another one of there's plus an example from the very local Church Farm. Titanic Mild and Wye Valley Butty Bach complete the line up. All in perfect condition on a cool spring lunchtime.

Do note it's only open all day on Sundays.

2011 notes

Paid a return visit after many years, not for want of trying. It's been tidied up a bit in the interim I think, but only that, nothing you would call a refurbishment. I don't think they'd dare. It is after all one of those English classics which are now so sadly becoming rare museum pieces. Still the basic small room with a tables round the outside, a fireplace one side and the bar the other, and another room for overspill. Overspill is more than ten or a dozen people. Great range of beers, mainly local, pumped from just under the counter, there's no cellar, and I guess there's lager for those who want it though I didn't notice a pump. Don't come here expecting food; it's not here for that, but for drinking delicious beer in a quiet, warm, civilised atmosphere.

Well worth a detour or indeed a special trip out.

What can I say. AA quote: A very traditional whitewashed free house of great charm and character, this is a true old-style pub. It serves no food and does not accept children or dogs. That aside, it's a thoroughly welcoming spot for adults who appreciate the pleasures of a quiet pint. Local and independent brewery beers are always available, and there is a guest or two ales to sup while enjoying lively conversation, or just relaxing and appreciating the atmosphere.

A detached, white rendered, traditional country pub that gives that 'how quaint' feeling.

The interior has two smallish rooms, one having the small bar in. There is a 6d bar billiards machine in the passage on the way in, as well as signs saying there is a £1 fine for use of a mobile phone. The decor in the side room, where we sat, was white painted brick, with blue seats and there was a stone fireplace, with pictures, plates and other ephemera. In the bar there was a small, lit, wood fire, giving a cosy feel. It was mainly white, with beam look. Service was fine, with a nice 'goodbye lads' (at our age!) as we left. The clientele is local, after all, its miles from anywhere, but we were made welcome. Silence reigned.

Beer; a bit of tap stuff, with a decent Butty Back, Slaughterhouse Brewery's Saddleback Bitter and Warwickshire Brewing Company's Winter's Tale. There was also GK IPA.

This pub is a quiet relaxed place, which i loved and would go back to at any opportunity.
