The George and Dragon has clearly been recently refurbished and nicely so. The details are below but it's a friendly and comfortable place to be with a fair smattering of locals enjoying the ale and the warmth on a chilly Wednesday evening.
The welcome from the two smart ladies behind the bar was friendly and added to the atmosphere.
Behind the bar are various blackboards which list, in no particular order, Church End's various beers along with a brief description then on the customers side is a neat list of what's on at the time. All very clear.
The selection of ales on our visit was: Church End Stout Coffin, What The Fox's Hat, Fallen Angel, Goat's Milk, Wren's Pride and Gravedigger. In addition to these, Victoria Works from Weathered Oak was on as a guest. Everything we tried was in good shape and there's plenty here to keep you occupied for a long evening session.
A winner from Church End and well worth a visit.

As Soupy advised,I did pop in .Infact for the whole evening. The bar to the left is well described by him,the snug to the right is smaller but very cosy and both rooms benefitted from log burners on a cold night. The island bar will always have a wide selection of Church End ales, while on my trip there was also a guest from Weatheroak. All Church End brews sampled(Stout Coffin,WTFH and Fallen Angel) were very well kept and the 2014 GBG listing is well deserved.Food is only available at lunchtimes,so the evening atmosphere was of a village local with lots of chat and supping.
I will most certainly pop back when next in Stoke Golding,an attractive village which even has a curry house at the rear of the pub next door. All boxes firmly ticked.

A fantastic looking detached Georgian styled Church End Brewery pub, with patio area. The pub is in a cottage style, with three upper modern casement windows, in a sash style, and two lower ones flanking the entablatured central door. It is in white render, with extensive black paintwork around the windows etc, along with a string course. The interior has a couple of rooms - the smaller snug to the right i didn't see. The main room goes back some way, showing the depth of the place. It is in half yellow and white walls, with carpet, white ceiling and a brick fireplace. The back area is up a step or two. Mixed pictures are on the walls, including many of dogs and there is a clock, a barometer, some farming implements, bottles, brasses and books - so something for everyone! There was no TV and no music. The service was fine and the place seemed to have a mix of locals and those from further afield. Beer; usual tap stuff, with Church End Fallen Angel, What the Fox's Hat, Gravedigger's MILD, Stout Coffin, Folka Cola, Brewt and Festival Ale. I had the MILD and the Stout, both being decent, but a tad flat looking for my personal taste. This is a great pub, another i could sit in for hours - do pop in if you get the chance.
