Nick Davies left this review about The Wharf Inn

It remains very popular with a wide clientele, from boaters to walkers to groups of more mature customers having lunch to, I'm afraid, a sweary white van contingent later in the afternoon. That it's the only pub you can be sure to be open on a weekday afternoon is an attraction, along with the vast array of other facilities documented below. Beer range remains unchanged, Courage Best and Bombardier Gold, and food is of the vast mountains of stodge genre.

A better beer range would make it a fine destination pub but as things stand we're in 'stop by if you're passing' territory.

Peculiar pub which is certainly making an effort (as described below) but somehow doesn't quite make it. Sampled a pint of Thwaites Lancaster Bomber which was in good order, and opening hours very good, but didn't feel inclinced to stay.

The Wharf is a very prominent and well-known pub due to it's position on the main Banbury-Southam road and the Oxford Canal.
The draws are many with various services offered to boaters, a back garden looking onto the canal, a front terrace and a regular food offer.
Inside is unexceptional with a mish mash of modern furniture.
Only two handpumps offering ale with Wells Bombardier Burning Gold and Courage Best on. The latter was better than I'd hoped for but we weren't tempted into a second.
Much to visit for here but beer isn't the draw.
