This is a gem, we received a good friendly welcome when visiting here and the Wylam Gold Tankard was superb. The pub is popular with the locals and walkers. We sat bar side, which is situated on the right of the entrance. This room had a low unimposing bar counter, there was a panelled snug from the main area, a stone fireplace and some very old bench seating with figures carved on each end.
We sat in the bay window and had a hearty Northumbrian lunch, which was excellent and sensibly priced. There was a lounge on the left of the entrance, which led into a large restaurant at the rear. The restaurant area was a typically country farmhouse style with collectables and with large dressers and eclectic tables and chairs.
