Housed in an attractive red brick building, the Lord Eldon is a low beamed traditionally decorated pub with a centrally located serving counter across the rear wall. The main seating area is opposite the counter where lots of brass objects are found on shelves, the walls and also on the low beams above. To the left of the counter is some high seating and another room is found in the front left. I sat in the strip of seating to the right that is served by the side of the bar counter. In here green banquettes run around the walls and there’s a flame effect gas heater. GBG ‘we are in it’ posters going back a number of years are on the wall, as is an advertisement for BT Sport, although I didn’t spot a television so it must have been off during my recent Monday bank holiday afternoon visit.
Standard keg was available and the three hand pumps were drawing Tetleys, Doom Bar and Rosie’s Pig cider. I went for the Tetleys which was very well served. The service was a bit frosty, but I got a goodbye when I left. Worth a look.

Cosy old pub in the centre of Knutsford.
The ale selection was a little lacking - Thwaites Wainwright & Ruddles Best, but my Old Rosie was the only sighting of a real cider all day in Cheshire and was much welcomed.
The bar is in front as you enter. We sat alone in the small room to the left as you enter. I am a sucker for a cosy pub and despite the average beer selection, I quite enjoyed my visit here before moving onto much more modern and noisier places.

I did like this pub. Multi roomed and as noted it is surpringly big. Good old low beams for a spot of head cracking.
