Much as described below, this quaint pub is hidden away down a lane (mind the savage speed humps!) and has a strong emphasis on food, with tables packed in both inside and out. Can get very busy with families at peak times, but can also be very nice if quiet. Usual sort of brews available but often includes Harveys.

Splendidly situated down a rough road on Reigate Heath the Skim, a former farmhouse, has been providing refreshment for the best part of 200 years now. The main accommodation is to the front with a fascinating warren of smaller rooms continuing through to the rear and recently built smokers' quarters out the back. There's seating outdoors to the front and side providing lovely views to the North Downs and Reigate Park.
It's had some ups and downs over the years, and closed completely for a while recently causing much concern. It was thankfully rescued by two ladies who have made it rather too restauranty for my tastes - at weekends all available surfaces are laid up for eating meaning a vertical drink and dodging the waiters if it's too cold to go outside. It has yet to return to its glory days of the 80s and 90s when it was one of the top Surrey destination pubs and a GBG regular.
It is however well worth a visit, and makes an excellent first stop on the walk from Reigate to Betchworth, whence you can come back on the train, but be aware that it's shut weekday afternoons. If you're driving watch out for the turning into the lane, there's no sign.
Punch Taverns, so beer from their usual range - tend to be GK oriented but Harvey's Best to liven things up last time we went.
