As mentioned below, a small fortune has been hosed at this place in order to strip it of any previous pubby charm, now it’s a large, opened-up, light, bright and loud interior done-out in grey and turquoise for the gastro set, though the aviation prints (for Sopwith’s factory) are of passing interest. Nominally a Youngs house but these days that means almost nothing. Very middle class local clientele, the pashmina Pauline types. Two cask on over three pumps, Youngs Original and Surrey Hills Shere Drop (NBSS 3) served by well-marshalled and efficient staff. GBG22 listed, but I doubt I’d see a need to return.

A lot of money has been spent here to produce a large interior,decent sized patio garden and a "wait to be seated " restaurant section to the right side,with it's tables laid for service.
However drinkers are welcome in the rest of the pub,L shaped with a wooden floor throughout.The shorter side has a welcoming real fire with a flat screen above but switched off.Comfy seating options,while closer to the bar is a huge green leather bench seating area around two walls,some high tables,room for vertical drinking and a few discrete tables.Food features large and if you have a dog,you will be seated in the bar area.It's pooch central at busy times ! Large private room for hire on first floor.
There are three regular ales,Youngs Original,Harvey's Sussex Best and Surry Hills Shere Drop (NBSS 4,a fine drop).The food too is very decent although the median main is approaching £15,cooking quality high.
It feels relaxed,the bar staff are friendly and efficient and if tables are booked the time it's required is noted so you should be able to pitch down.Better than I thought it might be,close to the town centre and worth a visit.

A modernised opened out pub rather smart and swishly decorated inside, the walls were hung with various modern artworks. Gastro Orientated as Graham indicates in the previous review, despite this it still felt comfortable as a drinking only venture. Four handpumps featuring Sharps Coaster, Harveys Sussex Best,Park Gallows and Surrey Hills Shere Drop at £2.05 for the half. Nice enough for a quick drink but I would struggle to stay for a session.
