A splendidly rural pub down a lane at Albury Heath, perhaps a little commercialised to meet demand but retaining some good original features. A couple of small rooms by the bar are stone floored and rustic, while off to one side is a dining room. Outdoor drinking is confined to a few tables and benches out the front. Draught beers at time of visit were Flacks Double Drop, Gales Seafarers, Harvey's Best and a fourth pump with clip reversed - beer condition very good.

A marvellous old, partly 16C pub deep in the back lanes of the Surrey Hills. Enter into a flagstone floored room with the bar on the back wall, proper low black beamed ceiling and a huge inglenook fireplace, sadly unlit today as it was unseasonably warm. To the left there is a small snug with a working dartboard. a rough hewn table and bench and pleasingly a shove h'penny board as well as a montage of more recent photos with a fishing theme. To the right you climb a few steps to a larger room, looks like the preferred eating area, plates on the wall here as well as a series of maps of the area, loved the juxtaposition of the 1860s and today's OS sheets of the area. Stone jars and bottles on a shelf in here too. The stairs up to this area have rather limited headroom, more noticeable on the way down, take care. Papers and magazines on a shelf although many are of the hunting, shooting and fishing variety.
One was reverse clipped, Young's Bitter plus Surrey Hills Ranmore and Shere Drop. Food served but not on Sunday evenings, didn't partake but they do big looking Sunday roasts and they keep their own pigs in the garden behind so low food miles. Gents are outside around to the right from the front, discovered after a number of circuits of the pub.

Quite rightly a GBG regular with TEA and Shere Drop in good order the other day. Very much the typical English village pub so yes, the tiny main bar is usually taken over by the locals - why would it be any other way - they are the ones who really pay for it all. To the right of the bar is an eating area, and continuing to the left a small, sparse public bar perfectly suited to muddy boots and sweaty cyclists. They keep pigs in the field out the back - if you choose to eat the pork is very local indeed! Well worth a trip out.
