Pub has now been closed by council after police reported four serious assualts in recent months.

28th June 2011
I walked into this pub last week and found the place completely empty save for the owners. It soon became apparent why this was when I ordered a pint and was told that no draught beer was available due to an electrical fault that left the bar counter without power. I was offered a can or bottle from the fridge, but at £2.50 for a can of John Smith's, I politely declined. I asked if they expected the problem to be fixed soon but was told that this was unlikely due to the high costs involved. It seems that Croydon may unfortunately have another pub closure victim on its hands sometime soon.
It's a shame because my brief time in here suggested a rather cosy traditional two room pub full of tankards, jugs, bottles and the like. There are attractive frosted windows which have the pub's name set in them and beyond the back room there is a small patio area for the summer months. Greene King IPA and Abbot Ale clips were on the four redundant hand pumps.
The landlord had remained sat at an upright piano whilst I was in there and as I left he started playing a rather mournful tune which said more about the state of this pub's future than these words can.
