The exterior to this pub features relief plasterwork using lime plaster known as Pargeting. This can be seen on the gable end where a fox and some geese have been sculpted. Some patterned work can also be seen on the front of the pub. The bar faces you when entering and there was a raised area with a pool table on the right. The left-hand side featured a wood burning stove. The Manager and his wife were friendly and welcoming and so were the other customers. There were six different ales on handpump and the ale was excellent. I went for the Blue Monkey Marmoset and Humpty Dumpty Little Sharpie. Looking forward to a return visit, brilliant pub.

Lovely little pub with bags of atmosphere, very interesting and charasmatic landlord! The Ales that were sampled were in good condition. A group of Morris Dancers were at the pub when we visited which added to the atmosphere a wonderful music session was held in the pub once they had finished dancing.

The food was ok, and will certainly pop back when in the area, thats if we can find it again!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Poacher was recently taken over and is now under the ownership and management of Roger and Margaret Harrison. They offer a warm, friendly atmosphere coupled with good beer, IPA, Adams and several guest ales, along with good, hearty home cooked pub food. There are regular music nights including the now infamous Buskers night on the last Friday of each month from 8pm onwards, where all aspiring musicians can join in, and on the third Wednesday of each month open acoustic jamming sessions to allow local musicians to get together in one place. Definitely one to visit!
