Mildly scabby Marston’s pub next to the canal, described by others below. It had a very run-down feel to it, there was a pile of litter by the front door which generated its own atmosphere and, probably, ecosystem, and the locals weren’t that welcoming. Certainly the pub dog, Sam, was up for a scrap with our dogs, despite the assertions of one individual that he was ‘friendly’. At the rear behind the extension which looks like a youth club annex is a raised terrace laid with Astroturf, which also covers half the car park, to provide table and seating space for those who find it convenient to come here but don’t want to venture inside. Ales on were Pedigree, 61 Deep and Wainwright Gold, all in reasonable condition. We just had the one, then moved to the Shroppie Fly next door, which was a much better bet.

As you enter this Marston's house, the bar is to the right and the lounge/eating areas to the left.
Despite its location, the Bridge felt more of a locals boozer on our visit than a pub geared towards eating but that may have been because it was wet Wednesday lunchtime rather than a sunny Bank Holiday.
The welcome was friendly from both guv'nor and locals and the wooden floored bar area more than comfortable enough for a couple of damp and grubby boaters.
Beers on were all from Marstons - Pedigree, Burton Bitter and Hobgoblin. The Pedigree was in good nick and as good as it gets these days.
An almost essential stop for a strenghthening ale prior to tackling the Audlem flight.

Overlooking the Shropshire Union Canal, this Marston's tied house has been extended to the rear with the addition of an eating area with picture windows giving good views of the activity below. The entrance is at the front and leads to the bar room with it's pine floor and a darts board dominating the space, seating around the sides. To the left of the front door is a square lounge ,while the dining area starts to the rear of the bar.Three handpumped ales,my Pedi was on good form and very reasonable at £2.78.This looks like the haunt of local drinkers,a community pub with fairly basic decor .Food is a served and was proving popular.Fine for a swift one.
