This pub's main bar is in the oddly-formed lower building, with a slightly split-level lounge beyond in what is probably the older part. The former has an impressive array of trophies whereas the latter is plainly furnished and decorated. Just Wainwright (£3.80) available from four handpumps on the lounge-side counter, but thankfully this was in decent shape (and popular with the locals in too).

Two buildings now joined together, the only entrance is into the public bar which has a darts board and a very full trophy cabinet. There is some fitted bench seating,a fruit machine and a sports flat screen ,off during my visit.Through an arch is a rear lounge with it's own bar access, carpeted with three decent sized banquettes on two levels. There are six handpumps, two in the public bar , four in the lounge and there is a useful chalk board in the public bar listing the ale selection ,including a note of what's settling in the cellar. On my visit Doom Bar seemed to be the regular ale with guests in the form of Church End What the Fox's Hat and Holdens Whispering Death ,both in excellent condition and only £2.80 ,with halves priced at £1.40 which was very pleasing.A curry house operated on the first floor but there is no internal access, you have to ascend the steps at the far end of the building.
The pub overlooks the Coventry Canal and had a proper boozer atmosphere and a friendly welcome.IMHO this pub offers the best ale range in this small town and would be my preferred choice when boating in the area.I will definitely call in again.

A detached multi-building pub and Indian restaurant with patio area. A former coaching inn by the look, the pub is in cream painted brick with sash windows and dormer window in the slightly lower-level building. Part of the pub is now given over to the Indigo Garden Indian restaurant.

The pub has an open plan room divided into a bar and lounge serviced by an island serving bar. The bar is in white and beam walls, with a white ceiling and a red carpet, the lounge are seemed in white too, with a carpet (the lights were out in this area). The bar had a brick fireplace and a dart board, as well as a TV which had the rugby on. A trophy a book cabinent stood idle in the corner. The walls had a few horsey and hunting prints on for some interest. The restaurant is next door and wasn't open at my visit, so i can't comment on that. The service was fine and a few younger locals were in chatting making a little atmosphere. There was no background music.

Beer; usual tap stuff with M&B MILD. Two handpulls were present, one with an ancient Pedigree pump-clip and the other with a decent Bank Top Brewery's Bad to the Bone.

Polesworth has a dearth of real ale in pubs. Originally, what felt like a basic enough spit and sawdust kind place went up in my estimation when compared to its neighbours. Happy enough to pop into for one.
