As described by Soupy, below, and I should agree with his recommendation for visiting. On this occasion the only beers on were Old Speckled Hen and Old Golden Hen, a pretty uninspiring line-up. Food was good but expensive, the staff were pleasant and the clientele relatively civilised. The atmosphere was relaxing, but overall it was quite bland as pubs go. I’d eat here again if passing but it’s not somewhere to race back to.

This is an impressive detached multi-building pub and restaurant, with great surrounding gardens, kid's play are and ducks wandering around from the stram that powered the mill. The mill is in undressed brick. It dates to 1814 and is in a typical plain Georgian style.
The interior has a restaurant called 'The Grill in the Mill' and a lounge/dining area, along with a function room that i didn't see. The lounge/dining area is where you enter via the main entrance. It is in undressed bick, white panel, white and beam ceiling and stone flagged floor. The main part is dominated by the mill workings, which have been tunred into a feature. Old signs, Victorian prints, clocks and eclectic ornaments are dotted about. There is a side bar area, in coffee and wood, with red tile floor, where a small fireplace is the main feature. Even the bogs are in red ceramic tile. The restaurant is on two levels and is in cream and wood, with some exposed brick. There are a few fireplaces. The now usual bistro style art adorns the walls along with a wine display. There was no TV and the music was general at a quiet level. The service was functional, likely as they were pretty busy with families and a good mixed clientele. It has been many years since i have eaten here, so i can't really comment on the food.
Beer; usual tap stuff with GK IPA. On handpull there was Spekky Hen, westbury Ale Fresco and thankfully, to get away from Greene King, a decent Titanic Lifeboat.
My taste means that this is a place to take Mrs soup, or for a nice family experience - this is no Sizzling place. Not a place i would come just for a drink unless I wanted to sit outside, as it feels too foody and it is GK beer. Worthy of a visit, especially if you like that slightly contrived historical look.
