UPDATE: I returned to the pub to eat last night (JUL 25) and the food was good, as was the service again. There was an extra handpull on to those below, which was Jennings Cocker Hoop
**************************************************
A large detached, late 18th/early 19th century looking, country pub/eatery situated alongside the A5, in fact, looking down at it, in cream render and undressed brick, with a patio area.
The interior has a nesting of areas, but generally has a dining part, including a carvery, in red and white (I didn’t eat so cant comment on this) and a bar/lounge area, in cream and wood panel. The bar area, at the far end of the pub has a pool table and dart board. There is an eclectic mix of prints on the walls, with ships and WWII aircraft feature heavily where I sat. There is also a bit of general bits of ephemera dotted about. The service was friendly, the clientele mixed, with a group/club of mature bikers in.
Beer; tap stuff with St Austell Tribute, Sharpe’s Doombar, Banks’s MILD and Bitter. The Tribute was fine – a decent beer choice it has to be said.
This was a pleasant surprise for me – I don’t know why, but I had never gone out of my way to go here before – a bit of a schoolboy error considering the choice of beer is great for me personally. I will make up for it by visiting more often and stopping by for some food. Will update review accordingly!
