Best of the day but then it always has been a good pub. Festival Ale @ 5.5% and Stairway to Heaven @ 5.0% were the order of the day.

A traditional pub which has a relaxed and homely feel to it. The pub is exceptionally well run and you won't find a speck of dust anywhere from the fastidious manageress. We sat in the front bar, which had a welcoming coal fire and highly polished tiled floor. The bar area at the top end of the room had a choice of 5 Burton Bridge Brewery ales and also had a pot shelf running around all of the bar area. I went for the Stairway to Heaven, which was in excellent condition. The rest of the pub consisted of a large rear lounge and rear patio We met one of the sales managers from the Burton Bridge Brewery, who was enjoying his own beers.

The Devonshire Arms is a Burton Bridge tied house much closer to the Rail Satation than their tap and one I'd never visited before. Inside there is a smaller front bar with a varnished brick floor and a larger carpeted back bar. It was quiet on my early Thursday evening visit so I settled for the front bar which had a roaring fire on a very cold day. The small servery connects the two rooms just like in their brewery tap.
I counted five Burton Bridge beers on offer plus Titanic Plum Porter. I went for their Joyous Bliss (£3.00) and Stairway To Heaven (£3.10). Both were in excellent condition but the Xmas one was typically sweet although I could drink the Stairway all day long.
I thought this was a very good pub and saves the trek round to their Tap if you're travelling by train to Burton. For me despite the lack of a showing in the GBG the beer here is just as good as at their tap. I've scored it a strong 8.
