A dining pub with nothing much to attract the casual drinker, except a well kept Chantry Iron & Steel Bitter. The grass in front of the pub is covered in numerous bench tables, and there's more seating on the patios in front and to the side, next to the car park. Once inside it's dining table central, with nowhere comfortable for a solitary drinker to park himself, even if it hadn't been far too warm. To be fair, I'd been walking at quite a pace since missing my bus from Thorpe Hesley, so I went outside to cool off. The first table I chose was right next to an external loudspeaker, so I moved nearer to the road, where the noise of the traffic nicely cancelled out the pop. As mentioned, the beer was very good, and there was an alternative in Abbeydale Moonshine for those who don't like one of the best beers you can get in South Yorkshire. Service was friendly and efficient, and I'd have enjoyed my visit more, despite having to sit almost on the edge of the road, but for the posters advertising numerous "tribute" acts - I felt lucky the Meatloaf revival had been two weeks previously.

The Droppingwell is a decent looking pub that is set back from the busy upper wortley road.
Once inside there is a large island bar with seating around it,the seating to the front is normal tables and chairs,these were quite busy with diners,i had a drink behind the bar where there were some tall tables and stools and bench seating,ths area seemed to be favoured by drinkers.
There were two more smaller seperate rooms off the main room,one was to the rear right the other to the front right,these rooms had tables laid out for diners.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Kelham Easy Rider which went down well,the other beer was Taylor Landlord.
This was a pleasant pub to sit and drink in while it was chucking it down outside,the pub is probably a bit too foody for my liking.
