Alan Winfield left this review about Crown Inn

The Crown Inn is a decent looking pub that faces a very busy road junction.
Once inside there is a large oblong shaped lounge to the right, this room was carpeted and had bench seating on three sides, there was a karioki machine being taken out from the previous night which made the room seem very cold and there was no background music, but the pub had just opened, there is a seperate bar to the left which looked fairly narrow, this room runs to the rear of the pub, there was also a pool table in this room.
There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Stones cold bitter which was a pretty poor drink, the other beer was John Smiths smooth crap.
I probably hit this pub at the wrong time,it may well be a livley pub in the evening.

No real ale and a rather cavernous interior with large plasma screen lacking in atmosphere at all times other than large sporting events I suspect. However, the experience was redeemed by a cold pint of 1664 poured by a chatty, friendly and helpful barmaid who really ought to be operating in a real ale boozer.

The wooden slatted blinds in the windows should have alerted me that the claims of fine ale on the exterior signs might well only refer to the usual keg crap.Once inside I was informed that there was no cask ale so had to make do with the
Stones smooth flow. The large interior is rather faceless with ubiquitous rustic style furniture ,a very large plasma screen and a bar covered with keg taps which also serves a smaller side lounge. The whole experience was saved by the very helpful young barmaid who was chatty and charming unlike a few of the regulars.
