This is a surprisingly good shopping centre pub, situated in a run down area slightly away from the main focus of Doncaster's town centre. There's an outside area under a tree that was providing some welcome shade during last summers very warm spell when I was here. Once inside there was pretty smart wallpaper, carpet and upholstery, and although some of the wood panelling was a bit battered, the overall impression was of a fairly presentable pub. No real ale, but my Guinness was OK and pretty cheap at £3 a pint.

The Staff of Life is a rather unattractive pub on the edge of a shopping precinct. I didn’t notice anyone with shopping bags during my recent Saturday afternoon visit, but there were twenty or so locals in attendance. In the right hand side of the pub is some seating, a dartboard and a plasma screen that was showing muted horse racing. There is another plasma screen in the larger left hand side of the pub which was airing a premiership football match via BT Sport. The football was also muted as music from the jukebox was preferred. A disco is advertised for the last Saturday of the month.
The bar is stocked with standard draught and one of the hand pumps was unused leaving Hobgoblin as the lone ale option.
There are better pubs in the area so I’m not sure that I would find myself in here again.
