This needs a review as the last one was in 2008. 25 years since I was last here and little has changed! It has gone through at least 3 managers / tenants since then. Still no Juke Box, No Telly, No Radio. It does have darts, snooker and pool table in the public bar. The morgue (the Lounge Bar) where the older clientele muster and watch each other have strokes is nicely carpeted and has a few photos of coal miners on the walls. The broken plate glass door panel in the lounge is of longstanding and appears to be a permanent fixture. The Sam Smiths Sovereign Bitter is said to be the best beer the house can offer at £1.35 pp (still no reason for me to move North) the Sam Smiths Best Bitter is cheaper, but it can keep your bowls open for days if not weeks. My friend, who will remain anonymous, as when he ventures back to his homeland drinks here says "Short measures is the norm and occasionally short change … but I just cannot bring myself to complain".

i had a very warm welcome from ian and jackie who have just taken over the pub this evening its a very warming and welcoming place to go to - very relaxed. cheap prices and a generally all round great feeling, the pub itself is very tidy and the locals are also very very friendly! definately worth returning to, my friends and i will be going back.
