Steve C left this review about The Penny Bank

The Penny Bank is a long and thin pub with split-level seating at the front and rear that bookends the bar counter on the left-hand wall that faces high tables up the right. There are a couple of televisions that were airing muted rolling news while some background music played. During a recent midweek afternoon visit there was only one other customer, who I think was a friend of the friendly barmaid. Standard keg was available alongside Madri and one of the three hand pumps was in operation drawing Bateman’s XXXB. The food stretched to toasties, paninis and fish finger sandwiches. There has been a recent refurbishment so the pub is quite comfortable, but it feels a bit late bar like for me.
