An Edwardian roadside hotel whose roots probably lie more with the railway than any equestrian form of transport, given that it sits so close to Crewkerne Station. It’s not the most elegant of settings – it’s on a main road just outside the main town, there’s an industrial park next door and there’s a new housing estate round the back. It doesn’t have any pleasant outside areas, just a paved front garden which is strewn with smokers’ litter. Inside, there are two main bars, one a dining room and the other a much more entertaining public bar. The latter has a comfy seating area around a very healthy woodburner, above which a TV screen shows live football. There is a pool table and table football in the opposite quadrant. The landlady was very welcoming indeed, and the locals were a decent bunch. Water was provided for the dogs, who were allowed in the public bar, there were some toys for younger children, and the food, although we didn’t try it, looked like good value. Three ales on draught – Ascot Starting Gate, Tribute and Exmoor gold, all in very good condition. There was also a mango cider but I couldn’t quite bring myself to try it. I’d be very happy to drop in if using the station, and it’s on the Somerset 2018 Ale trail.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Old Stagecoach Inn

Prominent, white-painted building which must once have been the station hotel, but still functioning as the nearest public house to Crewkerne station and offering B&B accommodation. Traditional 'L'-shaped bar with slightly austere furniture and decor but plenty of pump clips above the counter showing a full commitment to sourcing guest beers. 'Just' three handpumps on the counter, but when you get Saltaire Triple Chocoholic, the 10.5% Teignworthy Imperial Russian Porter (£1.50, half) and the potent Double Dragon cider you know that you are in no ordinary Doom Bore boozer...
