Probably the last review from me as the Landlord and Landlady have announced the pub will close for the last time on Sunday 30th April 2023.
At this point, Bass has increased to £2.50.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Crown Tavern
A basic, no frills boozer just off the main Old Market strip, we initially thought that it was shut on approaching due to curtains drawn at the windows and virtually no light visible from outside. It consists of a single room main bar with the counter at the back. Green seems to be very much the colour theme here and this included various paint shades on the wall as well as the seating and the curtains.
Flooring is a mixture of old wooden boards at the front and some type of lino at the back. There were a couple of original looking fire-places with a tiled front and a dark, carved wood surround, although it did not look as if they were used. A darts board was off to one side complete with an old electronic scoreboard and a couple of trophies on the shelf above. Another room at the rear housed a couple of pool tables, although this appeared to be in a state of disrepair with various buckets dotted around the floor to collect rainwater leaking in, and the tables themselves covered in tarpaulins to protect them.
The solitary real ale was Bass and the only cider was Blackthorn, although they also offered Thatcher’s Haze in cans. Prices seemed very reasonable with a pint and a can coming in at £3.20.
