Visited Jan 2011 with family. Meal was very nicely presented, delicious and very generous portions. Would definitely go again even though the service was a little slow, it was worth waiting for and the staff were very friendly. Price was fair enough too.

Formerly known as the Quarry (name changed late 80s), this is a very dining led pub , the room to the right was closed on my visit (private party) so i had to make do with the main room , a large conservatory style extension provides the bulk of the dining room (the food has a good local rep) its open plan but has a few nooks for a bit of privacy , 5 handpulls in here only 2 on with Bankss Bitter and Ringwood Old Thumper which was very good , service was OK but the barman not exactly chatty , its OK in here

This is a great name for a pub given that when you look out from the entrance St. George’s church is on the left and the sports club’s cricket pitch is to the right. It’s a two roomed pub with separate doors as you enter. The room on the left is fairly nondescript and is full of dining tables, the pub obviously majors on food in the early evenings. The room on the right is completely different. It’s almost ecclesiastical in design with churchlike lighting, leather seats and sofas, an old bike and a piano. There’s also a mini red phone box on the bar. Slightly strangely, there’s a quiz machine in this room. I think it would fit in better next door. Four handpumps on the bar but only two on selling the inevitable Bank’s bitter along with Jennings Honey Bole. I had a pint of the Jennings which was pretty good. It’s a very smart pub, if it wasn’t nearly a mile uphill from Oakengates station I’d probably call again.
