This was a single room pub popular with the local Irish and Traveler communities , run by the popular local ex-boxer John McManus it had a reputation for making its own rules , before the days of all day opening , open from when he got up , it was popular with posties finishing the early shift at 09.30 .
Pool was popular and upwards of a £1000 could be seen being gambled on games !
A bit of a rough hole but full of characters , there are much worse pubs in town that have stayed open.
Now a hair salon , talk about a kick in the teeth .
