This pub's heritage interior has been reinvigorated and reimagined, and is now quite breathtaking, both outside and in. The Bass Only frontage gave us a taste of what was to come, and the tiling, woodwork and brass once inside was only exceeded by the fantastic blousy roses on the wallpaper in the back room. Quite superb. There were four real ales on the bar, but we were on a mission to drink Bass if we could, and here we could. It was only in good condition, was the slight let-down; and if we're allowed a niggle, I must say that the background music was a bit intrusive.

Another attractive but ultimately disappointing pub in the Hanley area. A photogenic exterior with copious green tiling and frosted ‘Bass only’ windows (though I think the frosting was entirely real, per se). This is a self-styled ROCK pub. Traditionally decorated (or ‘not touched since the late-70s’), there’s small narrow main bar as you enter with some extra areas zig-zagging off to the right, one of which contained a life-sized cardboard cut-out of KISS. Inevitably the ale choices were Hobgoblin and Robinsons Trooper. I had a half of the latter and it was sub-standard. Very quiet on our Friday night visit, bar two navvies who were getting a bit too big for their boots, making for an uncomfortable atmosphere. I wanted to like this place but sadly, I couldn’t. 4.5

The Golden Cup Inn is a nice looking pub with a green tiled front that is situated just off Hanleys busy ring road.
Once inside the bar faces and the room is fairly narrow with bench seating facing the bar and small stools,there are small areas at either end of this room extending to the rear of the pub with the right side having what looked like a tent for outside drinking off it ,the floor was carpeted throughout.
There was a small TV above the fire place.
There were four pumps on the bar with three unclipped this left me with a choice of Bass only which was quite apt as the sign outside says Bass Only,this was a decent enough drink.
There were a few other locals in on my mid afternoon visit.
This is a very basic pub that is worth the visit to see the outside tiling.
