A funny one, this. Tucked away off the beaten track, the outside was barely lit on our early evening visit and part of the external signage was falling off – indeed, it looked closed and half-abandoned. The place hasn’t seen much change over the years; there’s a single semi knocked-through bar, a lovely left hand room with brasses and proper fire, with a games room to the rear. The place has red walls, wood panelling and a riot of brasses. Two ales on; Sheps Spitfire (very good nick) and Pedigree. A proper little Narnia and I’d highly recommend a visit to take it in.
