Steve of N21 left this review about Windmill Inn

We took a chance on this one for a lunch stop when travelling the A458 back from mid Wales and it came up trumps for that purpose. A nice white and green stone building just off the main road internally it is three rooms with a central bar section and two dining rooms off to either side of the central bar. Stone floored throughout with rugs in both the dining rooms which are permanently set for dining with tables and chairs befitting a restaurant. But the bar section is a bit more pub like with larger wooden tables and chairs and an impressive large stone fireplace and even though we were eating we chose to sit in the bar section.
The main menu is slightly above what I would describe as normal pub fare with most mains coming in at £11 to £14, and Sandwiches on the bar menu were £8. Quality was good though for those price levels and couldn’t fault the Steak and Guinness Pie and Beer battered Cod and chips we had.
There are three ale pumps on the bar and two were in operation for our visit with Salopian Golden Thread and Hobsons Twisted Spire on and both were very well kept.
Although the Windmill is clearly food led it has two large garden areas either side of the pub which, due to its elevated position on top of a hill climb, affords excellent views of the Shropshire countryside and Can recommend this one as a lunch stop for those traversing in and out of mid Wales and I can imagine this one is well worth a stop just for a pint in summer.
