Really vibrant locals pub with a great range of ales, this is a must visit if you’re in Shrewsbury. I nearly skipped it after the Cross Foxes as it’s buried away in the backstreets but changed my mind, good job as this turned out to be one of my favourites of the day.

With a front car park so large that Jeremy Clarkson could do doughnuts in it, this is a bit of a strange pub which is a bit estate boozer meets traditional, but marked out by the enormous bowling green to the rear, on which the Ashes could be played out should Lord's be out of action.
Seemingly a friendly locals' pub, I plumped for a half of the Hobson's Champion Mild which was ok but unexceptional.
This pub is certainly worth seeking out when hanging out in Shrewsbury Town.

I really enjoyed my visit here, I found the barmaid to be friendly and welcoming, along with one of the regulars, who had popped in for a quiet pint. Six ales on handpump with two fairly national beers Wainwright and Tribute. The four other choices were, two from Hobsons, Twisted Spire and a Mild, along with Salopian Golden Thread and Stonehouse Sunlander. I went for the Stonehouse, which was good and if I had more time, I would have tried at least another three. A decent back street pub that is definitely worth seeking out and not very far from the centre of town.
