Alan Winfield left this review about The Blue Boar
The Blue Boar is a large looking pub that is just along from the Eagle Vaults.
Once inside we entered an oblong shaped room which runs the width of the pub, there is a narrow raised area to the front which faces the bar this has bench seating facing the bar and tall chairs opposite it,the rest of the seating is low leather settees to the left which are very uncomfortable to sit on.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Brakspear Oxford Gold which was a decent enough drink, the other beer was Hobgoblin.
My brother commented that the pub seemed more like a coffee shop than pub and i was the only person drinking beer when it was very busy on a Saturday dinner visit.
All in all a pretty poor pub probably best left for the coffee drinkers.

Old Boots left this review about The Blue Boar
Recently refurbished in uber modern style this is the public bar of a residential hotel. The main bar area is to the right where wood and metal predominate, including a steel counter top. Along the front wall is a raised area with grey suede bench seating, small square tables bolted to the floor and some high bar stools. To the left is a smaller area with a stone fireplace and furnished with traditional leather sofas and low tables. The four handpumps are flanked by two T-Bars of upper end national keg brands plus Guinness and Carlsberg. The ales come locally from Brakspears and Wychwood and give a good range of strength and colour, they're served in good nick as well. Candle power is much in evidence.
