Visited in 1994 and again in 1996 so a revisit was in the offing.
This started as a ferryman's cottage in the 17th century and a claim is made that it was visited by Oliver Cromwell and can be approached by punt, though nowadays the favoured vehicle of choice would seem to be the Jag or Range Rover.
The place bears no resemblence to what I recall, with a modern/traditional interior with muted blue gastro hues and some modern 'traditional' wood fittings and now a large pergola to the rear beer terrace with a rolling lawn down to the river dotted with a great many picnic tables. It's now in the hands of Butcombe with just two of their beers on offer: Rare Breed and Original which paired with a g 'n' t, came to £8.75.
There may be a great dining element to this place, certainly with very professional staff to hand, but it's a bit like an upmarket Harvester and given the relative inaccessibility, I don't envisage a return visit but it's probably a useful asset for Oxfordians with a car, even a small one.

A Wadworth pub popular with riverside walkers and located on its own single lane from Old Marston village. The oldest part of the pub was formerly a standalone stone cottage which dates from the 17th century and became a public house in 1871 named The Ferry Inn. A passenger ferry operated from the site up until 1971 when the Marston Ferry Road was built making it obsolete. Renamed The Victoria Arms in 1900 after Her Unamusedness, this closed and was derelict by the mid-1950s, being purchased by Oxford Preservation Trust in 1959, who extended it into the building we see today. Warren-like inside as you'd imagine, this is a popular food destination. An L-shape bar inside offered three Waddies' beers - 6X, Swordfish and a decent Cooper Vice (£2.10 for a half). There's a plaque by the bar commemorating the episodes of Inspector Morse which were filmed here although these were being covered up by Christmas decorations as the staff were taking the opportunity for a lull in the day's service to bedeck for the forthcoming festivities.
